What is a Hövding?
Hövding 4 is not a helmet. Hövding 4 is an airbag for urban cyclists. It is worn around your neck as a collar. Inside are sensors that monitor your movement 200 times per second. When the algorithm detects a fall-related accident, the airbag inflates in milliseconds, protecting your head and neck against impact and rotational violence.
Who is Hövding for?
Hövding 4 is built for everyday urban cyclists who choose not to wear a helmet but want to opt for a wearable airbag instead. Hövding 4 works for road bikes, city bikes and e-bikes up to 25 km/h. Which company is responsible for the development and production of Hövding 4?
iSi Wearables, part of iSi Group, is the owner of the Hövding brand and all associated rights and patents. Together with iSi Automotive, an experienced development partner for automotive airbag systems, the new Hövding 4 is developed and produced. This collaboration brings decades of expertise in automotive safety technology to the next generation of the airbag for urban cyclists.
I heard that Hövding 3 was temporarily banned from sale, what was the reason?
In Sweden, the Swedish Consumer Agency temporarily halted sales of Hövding 3 due to concerns about whether the product reliably delivered its promised protective effect. The company responsible at the time challenged the decision legally and the ban was later lifted, but the company had already declared bankruptcy, so sales could not resume. The Swedish authority’s comments have been reviewed by iSi Wearables and considered in the development of Hövding 4.
